Manchester United struggle to get value in transfer market
Juventus appear in second place in this list, with an extra €234 million spent.
Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been one of the biggest movers in the transfer market in recent years, paying out huge sums of money. According to a study by CIES, during the last decade, United have spent more than €1,594 billion on 33 signings, but their players had a total value of €1,356 billion.
Juventus appear in second place in this list, with an extra €234 million spent, only €4 million less than the English club. In third place is another of the teams that move the most in the transfer market, PSG. The Parisian side overpaid by €162 million in transfers over the last decade, with Neymar as the main culprit.
To find the first Spanish team in this CIES table, you have to go to the fifth position where Real Madrid are. Florentino Pérez’s team have overpaid by €148 million on transfers in the last 10 years, divided between 19 players. Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have positive results, with €47 million and €82 million respectively.
