Kylian Mbappé will announce his final decision on where he plays next season this Sunday, with current club PSG or suitor Real Madrid understood to be the star striker’s choices. As reported by French outlet L’Équipe, the striker plans to publicly announce his decision on French TV show Telefoot, which airs at 11 am local time on Sunday (5am ET), a day after PSG’s last game of the season against Metz.

According to the French newspaper, the player’s inner circle and the footballer himself want to use the well-known program to communicate whether he will stay at PSG or, on the contrary, if he will sign with Real Madrid. The suspense will reign until the end in Paris, and apparently at this stage only the player knows where he will play next season.

This Saturday, PSG hosts Metz at the Parc des Princes and Mbappé, who did not practice this Friday with the rest of his teammates, could play his last game with the current Ligue 1 champion in front of the team’s fans. His last challenge in Paris is to become the first player in the history of the competition to finish the season as top scorer and assist provider.

PSG will not sign anyone until they know Mbappé's decision

Meanwhile, PSG remains confident about renewing Kylian Mbappé's contract. Never in French football has there been such a significant media campaign over a player’s future as the one PSG have waged over the ex-Monaco player. Mbappé has been subject to considerable pressure to stay with PSG by both PSG’s owner Qatar and the French government. PSG are said to be not even considering other signings until they finally hear he will not be staying, but are convinced they will be able to persuade him.

The emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is willing to change the entire team structure to guarantee Mbappé an ambitious project and make him the highest-paid player in the history of Ligue 1. The leadership and the importance of the striker on the pitch this season have led PSG to decide that they need to do everything in their power to avoid losing one of the most outstanding young talents in world soccer right now, hence why they won’t throw in the towel until the end.

You can follow live updates of Mbappé's decision here on AS USA on Sunday morning as well as reactions once it has been announced.
