Mbappé’s numbers at Real Madrid are rewriting the record books

The Frenchman has scored 82 goals in his first 90 games for Real Madrid, a tally only surpassed by two club legends.

Update:

Only Kylian Mbappé knows where his limits are. His statistical output is smashing expectations to the point that he’s already leaving behind some of the most iconic legends in Real Madrid history. A quick look at his first 90 games in a Madrid shirt — and the 82 goals he’s scored — is enough to understand the scale of what he’s doing.

In those first 90 matches, only two players in the club’s storied history have scored more: Ferenc Puskás and Cristiano Ronaldo. Puskás, a generational scorer who built two careers — one in Hungary (383 goals in 366 games) and another in Madrid (242 in 262) — had 96 goals in his first 90 appearances. Cristiano posted 86. Mbappé’s 82 puts him right on their heels, forming a podium reserved for the absolute elite.

Behind the French superstar sit giants like Di Stéfano (73), Hugo Sánchez (63), Van Nistelrooy (62) and Ronaldo Nazário (61). The contrast becomes even more striking when you see that Raúl and Benzema had just 40 at that point, or that club icons like Santillana (33), Mijatović (32) and Butragueño (28) were far behind.

A golden season and a race for the Golden Shoe

This season alone, Mbappé has already stamped 38 goals, including 23 in LaLiga, keeping him firmly in the race for the European Golden Shoe alongside Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. Mbappé sits at 46 points, just two behind Kane and four ahead of Haaland.

Across all competitions, Mbappé has 38 goals and 5 assists. Kane has the same totals but in two more matches, while Haaland sits at 28 goals in 36 games, giving him the weakest scoring rate of the three.

When Mbappé arrived at the Bernabéu in the summer of 2024, Vinícius had 84 goals for the club. In just a year and a half, Mbappé has slashed that gap dramatically, outscoring the Brazilian 82 to 30 over that span.

Closing in on His Best Season Ever

Mbappé’s scoring hunger seems unstoppable. He’s now just seven goals away from surpassing the best season of his career — the 44 goals he scored in his final year at PSG (2023–24) and again in his first season at Real Madrid. If injuries don’t intervene, he’s on track to set a new personal record.

But despite already winning a Golden Shoe, a World Cup, and a Nations League, Mbappé knows two major trophies still elude him: the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or. Perhaps that’s why he was so blunt after Madrid’s shock defeat in Lisbon against Mourinho’s Benfica:

“It’s not about quality — it’s about wanting it more than the other team. A champion team can’t play like this. We need to work harder.”

His focus now is simple: get revenge against Benfica and keep Madrid alive in the league title race.
