October’s international fixtures have gone well for Mexico, who beat Ghana 2-0 before drawing 2-2 with Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany. Guillermo Ochoa played between the sticks for El Tri for the 12th game in a row and in the mixed zone after the draw, the veteran netminder said he was happy being called up to play for the national team once again.

Ochoa pleased to still represent Mexico

“I love being with the national team. I really like coming here because I know I can contribute on the pitch,” he said. “It’s not easy playing for a team like Salernitana, as it’s always difficult to get results. You are playing to avoid relegation, but I like the challenges and the objectives. I’ve always been like that, and that has made me grow... it makes me feel alive, competing at the highest level.”

Analyzing Germany game

After drawing against the four-time world champions, Ochoa added: “You have to keep a cool head, keep your feet on the ground. For me, emotional stability and mental balance are key. With humility, hard work and a willingness to grow, we’ll continue to grow.

“Germany is a world power. We understood as a group that if we pressed together and moved forward together, it was going to be difficult for them. These two games have made it clear to us that this is the way we want to work now and in the future.”

Happy under Lozano

“The players believe in the coaching staff, and it shows on the pitch. We’re all convinced we’ll get better results.

“The game time for the players is key. They have to get minutes and be important parts of their own teams. That we are growing together is the best thing. Those who were called up are playing, they are competing and that helps us to make the Mexico national team stronger,” Ochoa concluded.
