Menezes has already coached Brazil in a friendly against Morocco last March and is currently overseeing the Seleçao at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina with his side advancing to the round of 16 after beating Nigeria 2-0 on the third matchday of the tournament. The Brazilian coach will return to Argentina in the next few hours to resume his role with the Under-20s.

During the press conference, the Brazilian coaching staff highlighted the latest episodes of racism that Vinicius has suffered in Spain with all staff members wearing a t-shirt bearing the words: “Com racismo nao tem jogo” (With racism there is no game).
