Rennes boss on Umtiti: “I’m feel sorry for Sam...”
Bruno Genesio denies the information about the reason for not signing Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
Rennes manager Bruno Genesio has revealed what happened in recent days with Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
It has been reported that the Ligue 1 club decided against signing Umtiti after he failed a medical. However, the opportunity to sign Morato, a Benfica player and the South Korean Kim Min-Jae is the main reason why Umtiti is not returning to Ligue 1.
The club’s coach wanted to clarify what happened. “I’m sorry for the false information that has been released, I’m sorry for Sam, because in no case did he come to have a medical examination, and less a test that would not have been conclusive.”
Genesio also dicussed his involvement in the operation. “It tarnishes our image, my image, because I also have a commitment to him, and I wanted to say that what has been said is really a bit toxic and very unfortunate.”
