Messi and Miami poised to break yet another record
The MLS Cup final looks set to be the ideal setting for Inter Miami to cap off a perfect postseason with a golden touch and crown it with the title.

MLS reaches its climax this Saturday, as Chase Stadium becomes the stage for the season finale in which either Inter Miami or the Vancouver Whitecaps will be crowned champions of US soccer in 2025.
At the same time, Chase Stadium will permanently close its doors and bid farewell to MLS, because from next season Inter Miami will move to Miami Freedom Park, their new home that will open next April.
As a final tribute to the ground they have called home, Inter Miami arrive at this MLS Cup aiming not only to win the title with Lionel Messi leading the team but also to give Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba a fitting send-off into retirement.
Javier Mascherano’s side also have their sights on an important record that could be achieved on Saturday against Thomas Müller and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Inter Miami come into this play-off match with 17 goals scored in the MLS postseason so far, with Lionel Messi directly contributing to 13 of them.
If Inter Miami score against the Whitecaps, they will equal the record for the most goals in a single MLS postseason, a mark that belongs to LA Galaxy with the 18 goals they registered last year when they lifted the trophy against the New York Red Bulls.

The postseason scoring record is therefore within reach for Miami, who need only two goals to become the highest-scoring club in MLS play-off history and move ahead of teams such as the Galaxy and Toronto FC.
