Messi at Inter Miami: Goalkeeper hospitalised after poisonous spider bite
Lionel Messi will have to watch out on any trips to the zoo in Florida after his future teammate Nick Marsman suffered a nasty injury.
Inter Miami’s Nick Marsman was hospitalised for three days after being bitten by a poisonous spider during a trip to the zoo.
The Dutch shot-stopper was recently on a trip to the zoo with his family when he was bitten by a tropical spider. He was forced to spend three days in hospital while he recovers.
Writing on Instagram, Marsman’s wife Nathalie Den Dekker wrote: “The downside of living in a tropical climate… is when you go to the zoo and get bitten by a poisonous spider. End up being hospitalised for three days.”
Marsman will soon meet up with Messi
Marsman has now been discharged from hospital but does not yet appear to have returned to Inter Miami training. The MLS side will welcome Lionel Messi to their ranks once the World Cup winner has finished his break after the European season concluded.
The goalkeeper might suggest that his new teammate steers clear of the local zoo. Marsman also had some recommendations for the club about the changes that would be required to accommodate a player of Messi’s huge following.
“It would be fun [if Messi joined]. I personally think that our club is not yet ready when he comes,” Marsman told ESPN before the transfer was confirmed.
“People can walk onto the field, there are no fences or anything. We walk from the training centre to the stadium for the match without security. So I guess they’re not ready yet. But I hope he comes.”
