INTER MIAMI
Messi poised for Inter Miami return
Inter Miami are back in action this weekend as they face Philadelphia Union with everything pointing to a return to the game for the Argentine.
The long awaited anticipated of the mercurial Argentine star seems to be imminent after Messi has been recovering from the injury sustained during the final of the 2024 Copa America in July.
‘Tata’ Martino has had to do without the captain since then as his team maintain their dominance and top the Eastern Conference with an advantage of eight points over nearest pursuers FC Cincinnati and it looks like fans attending Saturday’s MLS game in Fort Lauderdale will see the Argentine make his return.
The captain has been training normally with his teammates for some time now with the worst of the ankle injury long behind him and having missed 20 of the 35 Inter Miami games this season due to injuries and international commitments, it looks like the ‘Herons’ will be able to count on Messi for the final stretch of the regular season with the Florida side having already sewn up a spot in the playoffs.
Next up, the visit of the Union
Philadelphia visit Miami desperate for a win with the Union lying in eleventh place with seven games left in the season and Jim Curtin’s men are two points outside the playoff zone.
“We’re playing the best team in MLS this weekend, in their stadium with the possibility of Messi returning. We have to prepare for that, prepare for their best group. It will take a perfect performance on the road to bring points back to Philadelphia,” Curtin stated at a pre-game press conference.
