Mexico defender Julián Araujo joins Las Palmas from Barcelona
The 21-year-old came through the Barça Academy in Arizona, before making his professional debut with LA Galaxy in MLS under the guidance of Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
Las Palmas have announced the signing of defender Julián Araujo from Barcelona, joining on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old trained at the Barça Academy in Arizona, before making his professional debut with LA Galaxy in MLS under the guidance of Guillermo Barros Schelotto. He was 17 years old at the time and he went on to play more than 100 games for the North American side, where he scored one goal and provided 14 assists.
Mexico international
Araujo only got his first opportunity with Xavi’s side on 6 June, when he played a friendly in Japan against Andrés Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe. In June and July, he played in various friendly matches with Mexico, in addition to the Nations League and the Gold Cup. Likewise, in March and April, he was called up by El Tri, completing 145 minutes in three games.
Pimienta adds to squad
With the signing, Las Palmas head coach García Pimienta has the necessary cover that he was looking for on the right side, after the departure of Marvin Park.
