Mexico in line to stage the draw for the 2026 World Cup
According to reports, the Mexican city of Monterrey is in line to host the staging of the draw to define the grpups for the 48 teams participating at the 2026 World Cup.
The clock is ticking towards the biggest event in global football with less than two years to go ahead of the expanded 48 team 2026 World Cup.
The tournament will be staged in three countries with Canada, Mexico and the USA the three host nations. The tournament commences on 11 June and runs through to the final which will be staged in NY/New Jersey on 19 July. Mexico will host the inaugural match at the Estadio Azteca and it also appears that the main draw to decide the groups for the 48 participating nations will be decided on Aztec territory.
Mexico vs Canada
According to TUDN, the recently held Legends Match (Monterrey) was key in tussle between Mexico and Canada for the opportunity to be host the 2026 WC draw, with the outlet claiming that the capital of the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León will be the host venue with the draw tentatively set to be staged in December 2025.
Although the announcement has not been made official, TUDN are convinced that the fate of the 48 participants will be decided in Monterrey.
