WORLD CUP 2022

Mexico is the only team from CONCACAF without a goal

The United States, Canada and Costa Rica have each scored a goal after two matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, except for Mexico.

The four teams from CONCACAF that are participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup are Canada, the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica. After two matchdays, only the Canadian men’s national team has been eliminated after losing 4-1 to Croatia on Sunday at Khalifa International stadium.

The good news is that Alphonso Davies scored Canada’s first-ever World Cup goal and it was also the fastest in the history of the tournament. The Canadian men’s national team will play their last game of the group stage against Morocco on Thursday to conclude their participation in the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Costa Rica

Los Ticos suffered a 7-0 defeat against Spain in their group stage opener but bounced back on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Japan. Keysher Fuller scored in the 81st minute to keep Costa Rica’s hopes alive to advance to the next round, and will conclude the group stage by playing against Germany on 1 December.

The United States

The USMNT scored one goal in two 2022 FIFA World Cup matchdays. Tim Weah scored in the 1-1 tie over Wales in the group stage opener, and they tied 0-0 against England on Friday. The US men’s national team is currently in third place in Group B, meaning they need to defeat Iran on Tuesday to advance to the next round.

Mexico against the ropes

The only team from CONCACAF that has not scored at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after two fixtures is Mexico. They tied 0-0 against Poland in the group stage opener and lost to Argentina 2-0 on Saturday at Lusail stadium. The Mexico national team has struggled on offense in the last two years under manager Gerardo Martino and they need to beat Saudi Arabia and hope that Poland defeats Argentina to qualify for the Round of 16.
