Update:

October 2025 came and went without a single goal or assist from Santiago Giménez - a rare drought in the striker’s European journey that began in the summer of 2022, when he arrived in Rotterdam to wear Feyenoord’s colors. Now in Serie A, his first full season with AC Milan has been a rollercoaster of emotions, marked by struggles in front of goal but steady support from head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Giménez’s first two months in the Eredivisie were electric. He netted his first European goal in just his third appearance for Feyenoord. In the Europa League, he made an immediate impact, scoring twice against Lazio in the opening matchday and following up with another brace against Sturm Graz. While he didn’t score in October 2022, he did provide an assist in a match against AZ Alkmaar.

The following autumn was even more fruitful. Giménez thrived during the season’s early stretch, bagging a brace against Zwolle and adding a goal and an assist in the next fixture versus Vitesse. By the end of that October, he had already racked up 13 goals and three assists in Eredivisie play alone.

Last year, a muscle injury sidelined him from late September through most of November. But upon returning, he wasted no time getting back on the scoresheet, finding the net against Fortuna Sittard. It was during this period that Milan finalized his transfer, cutting short his Eredivisie campaign as he joined the Rossoneri in February 2025.

Giménez set for bench vs Roma

Fast forward to the present: Giménez was forced off in the 62nd minute of Milan’s clash with Atalanta after picking up an injury in a collision. With Roma up next on Sunday - a side that has conceded just three goals across nine Serie A matches - all signs point to the Mexican forward watching from the bench.
