Mexico’s Under-23s to face Spain in Madrid
The FMF confirmed the friendly against Spain as part of a summer tour of Europe.
Mexico’s Under-23 team will play a friendly match against their counterparts from Spain as part of a European tour this summer, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) confirmed on Wednesday.
The FMF issued a statement to announce that El Tri will play at the Spanish Football Federation’s base, the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas in Madrid, Spain on Tuesday 13 June with the game kicking off at 1:00 p.m. Central Mexico Time (21:00 hours local time CEST - 3 p.m. EDT / 12 noon PDT).
The friendly against Spain is the second confirmed for El Tri as part of a tour which will take the team to a number of European countries at the start of the summer.
Mexico’s Under-23 side will also face France’s U23s at Stade Des Alpes in Grenoble, France on Friday 16 June. Kick-off is at 18:30 hours local time (10:30 a.m. in Mexico; 12:30 p.m. EDT / 9:30 a.m. PDT).
Who is the coach of Mexico’s Under-23s?
The Europe tour will be Gerardo Espinoza’s first task in his new assignment as coach of Mexico’s Under-23 team.
Espinoza was appointed by the FMF as part of the major restructuring of all national team categories. He will take the reins once his commitment to Tapatio concludes. Tapatio are currently involved in the MX Expansion League final, having secured a 3-1 advantage in the first leg against Atlante.
