Miguel Herrera led his first practice as a Xolos coach

Miguel Herrera has been officially presented as the new coach of the Xolos de Tijuana, replacing the Argentine Ricardo Valiño.

In his official unveiling, it was inevitable that El Piojo would discuss the Mexico national team role and the appointment of Diego Cocca as the new coach of El Tri.

Herrera was one of the candidates that the FMF considered for the position and, although he was not appointed, he did not miss the opportunity to thank the FMF for having been considered.

“I’m grateful to the National Teams Committee, who thought of me.”

Xolos opportunity for Herrera

Herrera added that his focus is now on Xolos, although he will always be ready to manage El Tri.

I’ve always said that I’m ready to lead the team. Whenever they ask me about the national team, I will always say that I am ready, because I love my country. Today I’m not thinking about the national team, I’m thinking about Xolos”, he said.

Herrera said he was grateful to the Xolos board for giving him the opportunity to lead the team for the second time.

“I had other offers but I was waiting for the Mexico issue to be resolved. I am grateful that they chose me and my coaching staff,” he concluded.
