Minnesota, who haven’t won in seven in MLS, sit three points off the postseason spots with two matches left in the regular season. Meanwhile, the Galaxy - who have won one in seven in the league - are three points further back. That said, the five-time MLS champions have an extra match still to play.
Minnesota’s assistant coach, Sean McAuley, will take interim charge of the Loons for the remainder of the campaign.
