MLS Cup: Acosta talks about Chiellini’s influence on LAFC
Ex Juventus star Giorgio Chiellini joined LAFC in June after a dazzling run in Italy and has since positively impacted the MLS team.
LAFC were at the top of the Supporter’s Shield standings in June when they announced the signing of former Juventus star, center-back Giorgio Chiellini. That was the start of their path to the MLS Cup final, where they are today.
“Giorgio wears a lot of hats - player, coach, mentor, brother, friend. He does it all,” said LAFC midfielder Kellyn Acosta of his teammate. “He takes things very seriously, starting in the gym, to the trainings, to the games. His energy is huge for us.”
“Giorgio is great, and he’s been a key addition for our squad.”
When Chiellini played his first game for LAFC, they had added Gareth Bale to boost the team as well, and held a two-point lead over Austin FC in the Shield and Western Conference races. Fast forward to the present, and they are now in the MLS Cup final, playing on Saturday against Philadelphia Union.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m. PT at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
