Moisés Vieira: “I want to make history with Cruz Azul”
The new reinforcement of La Máquina arrived in Mexico City on Monday afternoon and wasted no time providing a positive message for the followers.
The ups and downs for Cruz Azul continue, with a fluctuation of various circumstances surrounding the team led by Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferretti, all aimed at strengthening the squad for the upcoming Apertura 2023 season. Additionally, they aim to avoid reliving a scenario similar to that of the previous tournament. After being eliminated by Atlas during the playoffs, it became apparent that a complete restructuring of the ‘Celeste’ squad was necessary.
Changes at Cruz Azul
One of the key decisions made by the board of directors at the start of the transfer market was to terminate the contracts of two of their forwards, Gonzalo Carneiro and Michael Estrada. Despite initially showing promise for the future, they were unable to secure a permanent spot within the team. Consequently, they were released to make way for another player vying for the same position.
Such is the case of Brazilian player Moisés Vieira, a left winger who is capable of playing on the opposite side and even as a midfielder. Vieira, who previously played for Fortaleza Esporte Clube, has already arrived in Mexico City to undergo the necessary medical examinations and finalise the signing of his contract, expected to be for a duration of four years.
Upon his arrival in Mexico, the press wasted no time and intercepted the 26-year-old footballer. Vieira, not one to hold back, shared his first words with his new team and fans.
“I am extremely delighted to join a prestigious team like Cruz Azul. I am here to make history and score numerous goals.”
These statements immediately captured the attention of the supporters and were seen as an auspicious sign, as they believe it is the ideal way to commence his journey with the new club.
On May 31, Vieira’s former South American team officially announced the transfer of the player to Cruz Azul. The transaction was valued at approximately $4.8 million, and as part of the agreement, the South American squad will also retain a 10 percent stake in Vieira’s transfer rights if Cruz Azul decides to sell him in the future.
