Monterrey lose Sergio Ramos

Spanish defender Sergio Ramos will be forced to sit out Monterrey’s upcoming Liga MX match against Querétaro after picking up a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation.
Ramos hits suspension limit after Puebla booking
Ramos, 39, received his fifth caution of the Apertura 2025 campaign in the first half of Monterrey’s 2-1 win over Puebla, triggering an automatic ban. The booking, shown in the 42nd minute, added to earlier yellows he picked up against Pachuca (Week 1), Atlas (Week 3), Mazatlán (Week 5), and Necaxa (Week 6).
Sergio Ramos’ disciplinary trouble
With the Puebla card, the veteran center back has now amassed an eye-popping 252 yellow cards at club level over the course of his career, while he has been sent off on 30 occasions.
Before arriving in Mexico, Ramos starred for European giants Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Sevilla, cementing his reputation as one of the most battle-tested defenders of his generation.
His absence poses a challenge for Monterrey head coach Domenec Torrent, who will need to reshuffle his back line for Saturday’s Week 8 matchup. The Rayados are aiming to stay near the top of the Liga MX standings, but losing Ramos’ experience and leadership could complicate their push.
