Monterrey’s asking price for Rogelio Funes Mori

The Mexican forward’s contract expires next summer. Rayados have named their price should another club be interested in acquiring him.

Rayados have been in full restructuring mode since the team’s elimination from the title race (losing to Atlético San Luis). The club has started the search for specific players to reinforce the squad and have also opened the door to various players, inviting them to abandon the project and resume activity with other clubs.

As far as the board is concerned, reasonable offers would be considered for almost all of the players current on the roster (sensible offers only, of course). There is also the possibility that they could lose one of the team’s star players - a figure noted for his trajectory and for what he has represented for the team in recent years: Rogelio Funes Mori.

The forward, a naturalized Mexican, will turn 33 in March and his contract will expire at the end of June, so naturally, the club is willing to start listening to proposals for over the next few weeks.

What kind of money are we talking about?

Although Funes Mori‘s intention is to extend his stay with Rayados (beyond June 2024) it is Monterrey who are not ruling out his departure before the Clausura 2024 starts on 12 January. However, considering the amount of money they would want in exchange for the striker, offers could be few and far between.

According to TUDN’s Diego Armando Medina, “The royal board will listen to offers for Funes Mori as long as it is equal to or greater than 120 million pesos, about 7 million dollars”. That’s a fee that only clubs like América, Tigres or even Chivas could pay, but it would be unlikely that any of them would place an offer as they (except Guadalajara) have the forward positions well covered.
