Mystery surrounds disappearance of Karim Benzema’s Twitter and Instagram accounts

Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema, has completely disappeared from two of the leading social networks platforms with both his Twitter and Instagram (@Benzema) accounts disappearing shortly after the conclusion of the LaLiga clash at home to Real Betis.

The move is surprising given that the player was an active user of both platforms and the situation even more mysterious given that he has just been awarded the UEFA Player of the Year award.

Qatar focus ?

At present no-one knows why the accounts have been closed with many reasons being cited as possible explanations for the move. Some say that the player wants to focus 100% on preparation for the forthcoming Qatar World Cup which gets underway in November and others pointing to a possible breach of security that may have prompted the closure of the accounts.

Benzema’s Twitter account was created back in 2013 and the player had a following of more than 13 million users on the popular social media network.

Some more conspiratorial Twitter users even claim that the move is all part of an advertising campaign and this contradicts the general theory which supports the idea of a security breach.
