Napoli aiming to sign Kepa instead of Keylor Navas
Reports suggest that the Serie A side is ready to table a formal offer for the Chelsea goalkeeper instead of the Costa Rica international.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has made it clear that he will not be rotating goalkeepers during the 2022-23 season and that Gianluigi Donnarumma will be his number one. This means that Keylor Navas will be the back-up option at PSG and the Costa Rica international wants regular playing time with the World Cup right around the corner.
Navas future is up in the air
When the summer transfer window opened, it was reported that several teams were keen on signing the Costa Rica international and Napoli were in pole position. The Serie A side is is need of a new stopper after David Ospina signed with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and Navas was at the top of the list.
Napoli wanted Navas on a season-long loan but also demanded the keeper’s wages be split PSG, an arrangement the Ligue 1 champions were not keen on. As such, Napoli have started to look elsewhere and have approached Chelsea about the possibility of signing Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Premier League side is willing to meet Napoli’s demands for the Spanish goalkeeper with Édouard Mendy firmly installed as Thomas Tuchel’s number one.
Navas will now have to consider other offers before the end of the summer transfer window and reach an agreement with PSG. The veteran goalkeeper has made it clear that his situation in Paris is not ideal for him and it has been reported that Sevilla could be another option.
