The new Liga MX season is underway but the transfer market remains active. One of the players whose future is still uncertain is América’s Sebastián Cáceres. Despite the club’s desire to keep the defender, Cáceres’ entourage confirms that they are working on offers that could change the course of his career, AS has learned.

Until the end of the market we cannot confirm anything,” sources close to the matter told AS México. Although América expresses its interest in the footballer staying, the negotiations are in a phase where offers from other clubs take center stage.

Among the interested clubs, Napoli stands out as one of the teams with a genuine interest in the Uruguayan defender. The possibility of a transfer to Serie A is a real option that adds intrigue to the negotiations and Cáceres’ future.

The situation, according to sources, implies that, for now, “Sebastián Cáceres is still an América player”. However, uncertainty will remain until the transfer window closes and final decisions are made. They also clarify that beyond the specific offers that come in to Coapa for the defender, “It will be the club is the one who decides”, highlighting that, despite the offers that may arise, the last word falls in the strategic decisions of América. In Mexico, this year’s subscription deadline is 1 February 2024.

Meanwhile, those close to the player have always stressed that he feels comfortable at América and that could influences his decision about his short-term future. He and he could stay to fulfill the current contract until its completion on 31 December.

But for now, with the transfer market still in progress for another 13 days, Sebastián Cácere’s future remains in the balance, and América fans will have to wait for the next news that will define the fate of the Uruguayan.
