Napoli release striking special edition black skull pattern Halloween jersey
The Serie A side have released a new special-edition kit, which celebrates Halloween and draws inspiration from the Fontanelle Cemetery in Naples.
Napoli are generating headlines again with the launch of another special edition jersey release. For the past two seasons, the Azzurri have been producing their shirts independently (with the collaboration of Emporio Armani’s EA7) and are no strangers to launching a series of event driven special shirts with more than 10 different shirt designs released over the space of a season. For Halloween 2023, the Serie A champions have chosen a new design with a historical inspiration.
The ‘Cimitero delle Fontanelle’ is an ancient Neapolitan cemetery, one of its most famous cultural and tourist attractions in the city and it hosts the remains of more than 40,000 victims of the 1656 plague epidemic and cholera outbreak that affected the region in of 1836. It became famous for the cult of the “anime pezzentelle” or begging souls: each Neapolitan adopted a skull, to which corresponded an abandoned soul, asking its protection.
The new special edition ‘Skulls of Naples’ shirt is black with dark grey skull patterns with the promo video helped to launch the jersey featuring midfielder Jens Cajuste as the protagonist.
The shirt is now available via the official SSC Napoli online store and costs €150/$158 and comes in a special presentation box.
