New Chelsea signing Wesley Fofana undergoes 10-hour Chelsea medical in New York
“I thought I was going to do it in London and then I found out that it would be carried out in New York City!”
New Chelsea signing Wesley Fofana has spoken about his medical with the Premier League club, which saw him make an express visit to New York City.
“I thought I was going to do it in London and then I found out that it would be carried out in New York City! It was an express visit, but I spent a long time at the clinic. It was the [Los Angeles] Lakers doctor who supervised all the tests, he looked at everything,” Fofana told French outlet L’Équipe.
“They examined my ankle; everything was analysed, even parts of the body that I can’t talk about (laughs) in order to see how I had recovered from my injury. It lasted over 10 hours! It’s normal given the amount of money spent on me. Todd [Boehly] and Bedhad [Eghbali] (the Chelsea owners) were great. They welcomed me in London and in New York like a member of their own family. I had never been to New York, but from what I saw from the taxi, I’ll go back,” he added.
Big money move from Leicester
Fofana joins the Blues from Leicester City as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen his defence for the 2022-23 campaign.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who joins for a reported €80million, could make his debut this weekend when Chelsea take on West Ham in the Premier League.
