New Real Mallorca striker Cyle Larin eager to start
The Canadian striker who moves from Real Valladolid to the Balearic island club could make his debut for his new teams in the friendly game against Spezia.
Cyle Larin will be a Real Mallorca player for the next five seasons, after Mallorca and Valladolid closed the deal that sees the the Balearic island club pay 7.5 million euros for the Canadian’s signature plus another 700,000 based on a series of variables.
The player, who arrived in Palma on Wednesday afternoon, underwent a medical examination on Thursday morning and subsequently signed his new contract with the Balearic club.
Larin, who will wear the number 17, curiously the same one that he wore with the Canadian team in the last World Cup in Qatar, is now under the orders of Javier Aguirre and is happy with the move: “I am very happy to be here; I’m excited to start with the team and meet the fans, and start scoring goals.”
Fourth acquisition
The Canadian is the fourth new signing as the Real Mallorca 2023-2024 squad begins to take shape after the recent signings of Omar Mascarell, Toni Lato and Siebe Van der Heyden.
The striker moved to Real Valladolid in the winter market and despite scoring eight goals and delivering three assists, his efforts were insufficient as the ‘blanquivioleta’ side were relegated to the second tier of Spanish football.
Larin joins a strike force that already includes Muriqi and Abdón Prats as the kick/off to the 2023/24 season looms on the horizon as Mallorca travel to Las Palmas in the opening day on 12 August.
