There has been another setback for Dani Alves despite his lawyer Cristóbal Martell’s contining efforts to discredit the version of the victim of the alleged sexual assault that took place on December 30 at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona.

After Liga MX side Pumas UNAM rescinded the defender’s contract, the club are now asking Alves for million-dollar compensation for having violated the terms of conduct that appeared in his contract signed in July 2022, as reported by the Brazilian website UOL, who have had access to the email that the Mexican team has sent to the player.

$5 million claim

“For serious infringements by the player, in the terms provided in the fourteenth and fifteenth clauses of the contract, the player is irremediably obliged to reimburse the club for the payment of the compensation provided in the fourteenth clause of the contract, in the amount of five million US dollars (4.5 million euros), net, that is, free of all taxes or withholdings”, they point out.

In said email, it is also specified that the Pumas reserve “the right to undertake each and every one of the actions before FIFA and/or any other relevant, competent jurisdiction, to claim the agreed compensation and which includes the fifteenth clause of the contract”.
