New Welcome to Wrexham 2 trailer airs ahead of September release

The second instalment of the series gets a global release on 12 September as it showcases the ups and downs of Wrexham’s 22-23 campaign.

Wrexham AFC are now a global soccer phenomenon.

The boom in popularity which Wrexham has experienced over the past few years is undoubtedly due to the arrival of new owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and this blossomed in August of last year with the release of the FX/Disney Plus documentary series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

The original documentary followed the Hollywood pair as they embarked on the adventure to secure the struggling Welsh club and the ensuing rollercoaster 2021-22 season as hopes and dreams were dashed as the ‘Red Dragons’ failed to secure promotion to the fourth tier of the English football pyramid. Despite the failure on the pitch, the documentary was a massive success generating a legions of new Wrexham fans worldwide.

A new season of the hit series is set to be released globally on 12 September with much of the drama set to be dedicated to the battle to secure an automatic place to League 2 and the dramatic battle with rivals Notts County.

The visit of King Charles III to the Racecourse Ground also features along with the revelation from McElhenny that the club would be ‘unsustainable if they failed to secure promotion’ as Reynolds acknowledges that ‘Wrexham is the most special gift he’s had in his life’.
