New York Red Bulls hit four past Inter Miami in stunning home victory.
The Herons were looking to prove that they can perform without Lionel Messi but were behind after just two minutes when Lewis Morgan came back to haunt his former team. NYRB could have been further ahead in the first half but were held to a one-goal lead at the break.
Soon after halftime they doubled their advantage as Morgan added a second. He turned provided 15 minutes later and made a stunning attacking run to set up Wikelman Carmona for the Red Bulls' third of the game. Shortly after Morgan scored again to complete his hat trick and secure a resounding 4-0 victory for NYRB. Incredibly, the impressive Dante Vanzier claims the assists for all four goals.
It's a wake-up call for Inter Miami but today is all about the resurgent New York Red Bulls, who put in a performance that ranks among the very best that we've seen from an MLS side in 2024.

Inter Miami had made an impressive start to the 2024 campaign but they were thoroughly outplayed by NYRB. Former Miami forward Lewis Morgan was decisive for the hosts, scoring three and creating a fourth to pile the pain on his former employer.
Miami were without some key players, but this performance will be a real concern for Tata Martino going forward.

Luis Suarez bundles through the challenges on the edge of the box to make space for a shot. It's a decent opening but he snatches at the shot and it bounces wide of the post.
It's a little surprising to see Suarez, Busquets and Jordi Alba remaining on the field until the very end. Their legs will need to be rested this season and there's been nothing left for Miami to play for in the past 20 minutes.
There will be five minutes of added time, the fourth official has announced.
The Herons have been poor but young Alfonso has shown something on the left wing for them in the second half. He looks pacey and direct and a useful contrast to Miami's more stationary forwards.
Inter Miami are nearly on the scoreboard as Sean Nealis deflects a Luis Suarez cross onto his own crossbar.
Sergio Busquets is dispossessed midway inside his own half but the referee awards a foul to Inter Miami. That looked a little soft.

Brilliant work from Luis Suarez on the left flank. He curls in a left-footed cross towards Campana, but the Ecuadorian's striker goes just wide of the post.
Franuel Amaya's corner is a dangerous one but Inter Miami defend it well.
Powerful running from Stroud on the left to make progress. He finds Morgan on the edge of the box and the goalscorer curls in a cross. The first ball is cleared but it lands at the feet of Duncan on the edge of the box. He shoots, it's pushed wide by Dos Santos.

Gressel's corner kick goes all the way out to Luis Suarez at the back post. He whips in a front post cross and Meara gets across well to block.
First touch for Leo Alfonso. He does well on the left and wins Inter Miami a corner kick.

Inter Miami are enjoying a bit more of the possession but still look susceptible at the back to those sharp Red Bulls counterattacks. It looks like Tata Martino is readying some changes.

The Herons were outplayed in the first half at Red Bull Arena, thrown off their game by an impressive 45 minutes from the New York Red Bulls.
As we wait for the second half to start the hosts have been out on the field for a good four minutes, waiting for Inter Miami to emerge from the tunnel.

He was one of Inter Miami's best performers in their early season in MLS but Lewis Morgan has come back to haunt his former team today. The New York Red Bulls forward has combined brilliantly with Dante Vanzier throughout the first half and opened the scoring in the first few minutes.
