Newcastle United host Liverpool in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, in a clash between two teams in excellent form.
Eddie Howe’s men have won their last four league games to ease their relegation worries and, indeed, move into the top half of the table. The Magpies’ 3-0 triumph over Norwich City on Sunday left them in ninth, and was their 10th top-flight win so far this calendar year. That’s two more than they managed in the whole of 2021.
Meanwhile, quadruple-chasing Liverpool put one foot in the Champions League final with a 2-0 first-leg victory over Villarreal on Wednesday, and have won 12 and drawn two of their past 14 Premier League matches. The Reds sit second in the table, a point behind leaders Manchester City.
