Ciudad de México Update:

Cruz Azul is in one of its best stretches of the Clausura 2026, and the club now has a chance to turn its strong form into a historic milestone.

La Máquina hosts Atlético San Luis with the opportunity to extend its winning streak and solidify its status as one of the most dangerous teams in Liga MX this season.

A victory would give the club five straight league wins, a mark only a handful of Cruz Azul managers have reached in the short‑tournament era. If they pull it off, Argentine coach Nicolás Larcamón would become just the second Cruz Azul manager in recent years to hit that number, following Martín Anselmi’s run in 2024.

A streak that has fans dreaming

Cruz Azul enters Matchday 10 riding a four‑game winning streak — a run that reflects the team’s impressive form. Those results have pushed the club into the upper tier of the standings and reignited excitement among its supporters.

Key wins along the way

The streak began on Matchday 6 with a 2–1 win over Tigres, followed by another 2–1 victory against Chivas. Cruz Azul then delivered a statement road win, beating Monterrey 2–0 at the Gigante de Acero. The momentum continued with a 2–1 triumph over Santos in Torreón, cementing the team’s rise.

Larcamón knows how to build a streak

Interestingly, Larcamón has already authored a major winning run with Cruz Azul. During the Apertura 2025, he led the club to seven straight victories, one of the longest streaks in the team’s recent history.

That run included wins over León, Atlético San Luis, Santos, Toluca, Chivas, Pachuca, and Juárez from Matchday 3 through 9 — a stretch that strengthened the club’s project and positioned Cruz Azul as a true contender.

The Anselmi precedent

Before Larcamón’s arrival, Martín Anselmi also left his mark. In the Apertura 2024, he guided Cruz Azul to seven consecutive wins against Chivas, Pachuca, Necaxa, Puebla, Juárez, Pumas, and Santos. He also put together a five‑game streak in the Clausura 2024 — the very mark Larcamón now aims to match.

A big opportunity against Atlético de San Luis

If Cruz Azul defeats Atlético San Luis, it will reach five straight wins in the Clausura 2026, confirming the team’s outstanding moment. It would also place Larcamón among the select group of Cruz Azul managers who have achieved this milestone, further solidifying his impact on La Máquina.
