Nine-time Serie A winner Chiellieni joins MLS
Former Juventus defender and nine-time Serie A winner Giorgio Chiellini joins Gareth Bale in the MLS, signing with Los Angeles FC.
Giorgio Chiellini will join Gareth Bale in the MLS at Los Angeles FC. Chiellini told the media that he has been visiting the US from a young age and always had thoughts of finishing his career there.
The former center-back spent 18 years at Juventus and won 20 trophies, including nine Serie A titles and five Coppa Italia crowns. He is fourth on the all-time list of most capped Italian internationals. Chiellini said that adding silverware to his trophy collection is the main goal.
“I’m very happy they’re at the top of the league and I don’t want to change the team,” said Chiellini. “I just want to bring some experience I can give and surely I want to come in the group step by step.”
“It’s normal we have just three designated players,” said Chiellini. “But I read in the US, the attackers sell tickets and the defense wins the league. This is my goal and my target.”
