Official: FC Barcelona confirm worst kept secret in LaLiga
The club have informed members of a season ticket extension to their temporary Montjuïc residence for the last home game of the season against Villarreal.
The speculation is finally over and we now know that the new Camp Nou Spotify won’t open until next season. FC Barcelona sent members a season ticket extension this Thursday which covers all league games at Montjuic through to the match against Villarreal (matchday 37), their last home game, which officially rules out the possibility of returning to the Camp Nou this season.
There is also a grain of doubt if the renovated Camp Nou will be ready for the start of next season with some reports suggesting it might not be ready to open its doors until October or November and this would only be the top two tiers in operation, 60% of its full capacity, with work still ongoing on the third tier.

What seems clear is that all the club’s and the construction company, Limak,‘s expectations have been surpassed by reality. When construction began in the summer of 2023, December 2024 was set as the deadline for returning to the stadium, with a daily penalty of one million euros set to hit the Turkish company if the deadlines were not met and the project was delivered later.
Optimism from vice president Elena Fort stating: “only a catastrophe will prevent us from returning in December 2024” has given way to reality and the club now face a race against the clock to save face and resume to their natural home at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
