Official: Rodrigo de Paul, new Inter Miami player

Rodrigo de Paul has completed his move to Inter Miami. After several rumors in recent weeks, the Argentine player has decided to accept the offer from David Beckham‘s club. The deal is a loan with a mandatory purchase option, as De Paul commits to the Fort Lauderdale franchise for four seasons.

Details of De Paul’s move to Inter Miami

Atletico are set to receive a fee of $16 million (€15 million) for the Argentine midfielder - a figure based on his release clause. He had one year to run on his contract which was due to expire next summer.

The 31-year-old joined Simeone’s team in a five-year, €35 million deal from Udinese in 2021. He made a total of 187 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and creating another 26.

The arrival of Johnny Cardoso convinced De Paul to accept Inter Miami’s offer. The World Cup winner will earn a salary of $11.74 million in Florida, compared to the $8.80 million he earned at Atleti.

De Paul will share a dressing room with Messi, his team mate with Argentina’s national team, and with another former Atlético player, Luis Suárez.

He will join compatriots: Redondo, Allende, Usatari, Weigandt, as well as head coach Javier Mascherano, and will also be joined by familiar faces from La Liga such as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
