Oleksandr Zinchenko is officially an Arsenal player. Manchester City confirmed the news on Friday. With the Ukrainian left-back, Arsenal complete their fifth incorporation of the summer - becoming the club to have spent the most on transfers in the Premier League.

After the incorporation of Gabriel Jesús (52.2 million euros), Fábio Vieira (35 million), Matt Turner (6.4 million) and Marquinhos (3.5 million); the latest to arrive was Zinchenko, which could cost 38 million euros in total - 35 million in fixed costs and three million in variables.

Arsenal rebuilding project

In total, 135 million euros of investment with which Mikel Arteta hopes to turn his team around - a team which was only two points away from qualifying for the Champions League last season. This season, the Gunners want to reverse the negative dynamic and have opted for players like Gabriel Jesús and Zinchenko, who both came from current Premier League champions.

The two former City players will now be key pieces under Arteta, who knew them and coached them when he was Guardiola’s assistant at City. He has witnessed Zinckenko’s evolution first hand - an international for Ukraine, who began his career as a midfielder and later switched to left-back.

Guardiola preferred João Cancelo at left-back, but that has not devalued Zinckencho, who Arteta feels is just the kind of player he needs in his back four. Zinckencho will be able to give the Gunners more attacking power on the left wing, linking up with Gabriel Martinelli.
