Olise pushes Bayern to the limit over his future
Real Madrid is among the clubs closely monitoring the World Cup star as Bayern braces for crucial weeks ahead.
Michael Olise’s future was one of the biggest topics of conversation during Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer’s visit to Madrid over the past few days. Hainer, whose club employs one of the breakout stars of the 2026 World Cup, met with Real Madrid officials as another demonstration of the strong relationship between the two European powers. Inevitably, discussions turned to the French international, both publicly and behind closed doors.
A student even shouted Olise’s name while receiving a diploma during an academic ceremony attended by both Hainer and Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez. Later, away from the cameras, those present continued discussing the French international and his remarkable performances.
Hainer left Madrid with a clear understanding of how highly Olise is regarded at the Santiago Bernabéu and with a growing sense of what could unfold over the coming weeks.
Bayern’s public stance may not last
The summer transfer window has only just begun, and the biggest moves are expected after the World Cup.
For now, Hainer has remained firm.
“Telling Florentino not to waste his time. Olise is not for sale. We’re not selling him.”
Privately, however, there is an understanding that the situation could look very different within the next three weeks. At that point, maintaining the same public position may no longer be enough, and Bayern could be forced to adapt its strategy.
As AS previously reported, Olise plans to meet with Bayern executives before laying out his plans for the future. AS can also confirm that he has been encouraged by everything he has heard regarding his future, although only the player himself knows what his final decision will be.
Real Madrid holds the early advantage
Two clubs have already made contact with people close to Olise, but one currently appears to have the edge.
That comes before Bayern has had the opportunity to present its own proposal. Club officials know that with every standout World Cup performance, the player they signed from Crystal Palace two years ago becomes even more valuable and even more attractive to Europe’s elite.
Ultimately, the decision will rest with Olise himself.
He understands that outstanding performances on soccer’s biggest stage do not come without consequences. Every display boosts both his market value and the interest from rival clubs.
Real Madrid is one of those clubs.
If there were ever any doubts about the Spanish giant’s admiration for the French star, this World Cup is quickly erasing them. After his latest masterclass against Sweden, one comment summed up the growing excitement.
“He just keeps getting better. Every game is better.”
An enigmatic star keeps his own counsel
For now, Olise is staying silent.
He has shut out the noise surrounding his future, choosing instead to focus entirely on soccer and his teammates.
His talent on the ball is matched by his intelligence on the field. Away from it, though, he remains an enigmatic figure who rarely reveals his emotions.
That may soon change, when he finally sits down with Bayern to discuss the next chapter of his career.
