One of Chelsea’s targets this summer has turned down a move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues activated a clause in Michael Olise’s contract that allowed them to start negotiating directly with the player. They appear to have made contact with the French Under-21 international but apparently not able to convince him - the winger has decided to stay south of the Thames defending the colors of Crystal Palace.

Chelsea approach

Palace chairman Steve Parish did not like the underhand way in which Chelsea tried to lure Olise away from Selhurst Park. He has even considered making a formal complaint to the Premier League, although Chelsea insist that they have acted within the guidelines established by Olise’s own contract. It prompted Parish to begin negotiations with the player which have culminating in a new contract with Olise committing for another four seasons.

The shortage of signings and the departure of their main star, Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray, forced Palace into action. They retain one of their talents, and will try to do the same with Cheick Doucouré, who like Olise, has aroused the interest of Liverpool. According to British media reports, with the frustrated signing of Olise, Chelsea will turn their attention to another young Premier League talent: Brennan Johnson, from Nottingham Forest.
