After six seasons in Europe, Omar Govea will play with CF Monterrey during the Clausura 2023 in January and he is well aware of what is expected of him by one of the best teams in Liga MX. Los Rayados reached a loan-agreement with Liga 1 FC Voluntari to sign the Mexican international for the upcoming tournament.

Govea ready to make an impact in Liga MX

I’m very prepared and focused. I know that I am arriving at one of the best Liga MX teams in Monterrey. I’m going to give my best effort to help the club remain at the top of the table and obviously fight to win the title,” said Govea.

I had talked to the people in charge at Monterrey before and now that I’m here, this is my opportunity. I am in peak form. I was seeing a lot of playing time with FC Voluntari, my age is ideal and I will give my best to Rayados,” he concluded.

The 26-year-old scored one goal and provided one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions with the Romanian team before the World Cup break. Omar Govea made nine league starts with FC Voluntari and played a total of 767 minutes.

No, I don’t feel pressure. I’m 26 and in the best shape of my life. I have a bright future ahead of me, I’m mature and I want to keep learning, especially from a head coach like Victor Manuel Vucetich. I will compete for a starting role and give my best effort,” concluded Govea.

Omar Govea made his professional debut in Liga MX playing for Club América in 2013 and just a year later he was sent on loan to Zacatecas. In 2015 his European adventure began when he signed with Porto B and went on to play with Mouscron, Royal Antwerp, Zulte Waregem and Voluntari. Govea earned his first cap with Mexico in November 2017 in a friendly game against Poland.
