One of these teams will be the next Champions League winner
Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal are among the clubs who have a clearer idea of their UCL round of 16 opponents.


The Champions League round of 16 is starting to take shape as the second legs of the knockout phase playoffs are concluded this week (Tuesday, February 18 and Wednesday, February 19). Real Madrid and Manchester City were both heavily fancied to win the tournament but only one will be left standing when the last 16 commences next month.
Which teams have qualified for the 2024/25 Champions League round of 16?
Eight teams qualified directly, skipping the playoff round, by finishing in the top eight of the league phase. They are: Liverpool, Barcelona. Arsenal, Inter Milan, Atlético Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, Aston Villa.
The clubs who finished between 9th and 24th took part in the two-legged playoffs, which conclude this week. Feyenoord, Club Brugge, Bayern Munich and Benfica became the first teams to progress from the playoffs by defeating AC Milan, Atalanta, Celtic and Monaco on Tuesday.

Tuesday, February 18
12:45pm ET: AC Milan 1-1 Feyenoord (Feyenoord win 2-1 on aggregate)
3pm ET: Atalanta 1-3 Club Brugge (Club Brugge win 5-2 on aggregate)
3pm ET: Bayern Munich 1-1 Celtic (Bayern Munich win 3-2 on aggregate)
3pm ET: Benfica 3-3 Monaco (Benfica win 4-3 on aggregate)
Wednesday, February 19
12:45pm ET: Borussia Dortmund vs Sporting CP (Borussia Dortmund lead 3-0 on aggregate)
3pm ET: PSV Eindhoven vs Juventus (Juventus lead 2-1 on aggregate)
3pm ET: PSG vs Brest (PSG lead 2-1 on aggregate)
3pm ET: Real Madrid vs Manchester City (Real Madrid lead 3-2 on aggregate)
2024/25 Champions League round of 16 draw
Although we have a general idea of how the round of 16 will shape up, the actual pairings won’t be decided until a draw on Friday, February 21. On that date, the bracket for the remainder of the tournament will also be set.
After the conclusion of the knockout round playoffs, we will have a clearer picture of how the last 16 matchups will look.

Round of 16
First legs on Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5. Second legs on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12.
Quarterfinals
First legs on Tuesday, April 8 and Wednesday, April 9. Second legs on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16.
Semifinals
First legs on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30. Second legs on Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7.
The final will be played at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on Saturday, May 31.
