Saturday’s clash between América and León was full of controversy. First, León’s players claimed that an América player had handled the ball in the move that led to the equaliser, seconds later, as the players crowded around match official Fernando Hernández, Lucas Romero fell the ground after being struck by the ref and minutes later fight broke out between the benches of both teams caused the expulsion of the coaches from both sides Fernando Ortiz and Nicolás Larcamón.

Seeing as they had both been handed direct red cards, neither coach was allowed to give a press conference after the game, however, ‘Tano’ approached the media and stated that the León bench insulted his mother Sylvia, who passed away almost exactly one year ago.

“The way I see things, what happens out on the pitch stays out on the pitch, but when there is an insult towards my mother... No…”, he told reporters. Larcamón meanwhile, who ended up with a torn shirt in the tussle, refrained from making any comment.
