The least expected photo, with Joan Laporta, Mateu Alemany, Jordi Cruyff, Ousmane Dembélé and Moussa Sissoko (the Frenchman’s agent) took place this Thursday at midday at the Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despí. The French winger is staying at Barça until 2024.
Dembélé commits to Barcelona
Dembélé answered questions from the media at his presentation. “It’s been long, but now everyone is happy. It’s a very happy day because Barça is the club of my dreams since I was a kid and I can’t wait for the season to start so I can help. Winning the Champions League is a dream for me and I’m going to give everything to achieve it. There are a lot of people at the club who have helped me a lot. The first three years were very difficult for me, but now I have everyone’s confidence and I’m much better. I hope it will be a great year for me.”
Xavi key to contract extension
Club president Laporta also discussed Dembélé at his second presentation as a Barcelona player.
“I have admiration for the quality of Dembélé as a player and a person. Today is a very important day for Barça. I especially want to thank him for always wanting to stay and for making an effort to enter the new salary structure due to the circumstances.
“The coach [Xavi] has wanted you from the very first moment and knows how to bring out all the talent you have... You can still give more. This is an important year, we have to fight to win titles now. It’s a very emotional day. The coach loves you, but so does the club.”
