Ousmane Dembélé follows in Neymar’s footsteps
Dembélé is set to leave Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The player who arrived at Barcelona to replace Neymar, Ousmane Dembélé, is about to follow in the Brazilian’s footsteps.
After going out in a Clásico in Miami in the summer of 2017, Neymar announced that he was leaving for Paris Saint-Germain, who paid his staggering €222 million release clause.
Dembélé will leave substantially less in the Barça bank (€25 million), as the other €25 million is pocketed by the player with his agent, Moussa Sissoko, a key figure in the operation as Neymar’s father once was.
Neymar stars with Messi
The parallels between the cases are striking, with two important differences. The first is that Neymar weighed much more in a sporting sense than Dembélé. He led the way for the Catalan club in attack, alongside Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi.
