Guillermo Almada is undoubtedly the most coveted coach in Mexican soccer right now. The South American tactician reached his third consecutive final and won his first title at the helm of Tuzos del Pachuca on Sunday night.

Thanks to his knowledge, experience and expert way of managing teams, Almada’s name has been mentioned when talk turns to the Mexico national team post, but Pachuca President Armando Martínez insists that the coach won’t be going anywhere soon.

“Right now we have to celebrate, Guille has a four-year contract with us. I have always said, Guille can lead any team and any national team, he has an impressive ability as well as an impressive simplicity and human quality. I can’t worry about something that I don’t feel. I can’t go on assumptions, Guille is happy, we have a four-year contract and we have to support him. I’m not going to answer that (if they would let him go). Pachuca has always supported everyone’.

However, the former Santos Laguna coach has mentioned on several occasions that he and his coaching staff have the ability to offer Mexico something more, although he is respectful of Gerardo Martino’s position as national team coach.

For now, the Tuzos are happy to bask in their win before the squad enjoys a well-earned holiday, although several players such as Kevin Álvarez and Luis Chávez will be called for duty with Mexico who have already started preparing for the World Cup finals.
