Panathinaikos eyeing Cruz Azul’s Uriel Antuna
The 25-year-old forward could return to Europe, to the Greek league, after just one season with Cruz Azul.
Despite not having a good performance at the Qatar World Cup, striker Uriel Antuna could leave the Liga MX to return to European football. The former Chivas player’s destiny could lie in Greece, where Panathinaikos have been closely following his situation.
According to information reported by ESPN, the Mexico international has a formal offer from the Greek club, which is viewed favourably by the Cruz Azul directive. The same source announced that should the Cementeros go ahead with the transfer, they would receive profits of between four and six million dollars in the event of a repurchase.
So far there is nothing concrete and it will be Cruz Azul who will have the final word as they own the player outright. It is worth mentioning that The Wizard already has experience of European soccer, having spent a couple of seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie with Groningen where he had minutes but left to go to MLS.
In total, Uriel Antuna has played 39 games within Cruz Azul and is currently regarded as one of the team’s best players. The 25-year-old has spent time at several clubs during his career, including Santos Laguna, Chivas and Los Angeles Galaxy
