How José Mourinho could influence Paulo Dybala’s future
The 29-year-old has established himself as a fan favourite in Rome, with 13 goals and eight assists in 29 matches under Mourinho this season.
AS Roma manager José Mourinho requested the signing of Paulo Dybala last summer and, in less than a year, the Argentinian playmaker has shown his class with the Italian club.
Reports in Italy suggest that Paulo Dybala will only stay at Roma if José Mourinho is at the club next season. The 29-year-old has established himself as a fan favourite in Rome, with 13 goals and eight assists in 29 matches under Mourinho this season. Dybala’s release is just €12m - a low figure that could tempt Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Serie A side are aiming for a place in next season’s Champions League and can qualify through two separate routes. They are currently just five points behind third-placed Inter and are still in the Europa League after knocking out Real Sociedad.
Dybala and Mourinho have not been shy about praising each other either. “We have good communication and are able to talk to each other, and we find out what the other one thinks. Mou helps us a lot because he makes games easier for us,” said Dybala.
Mourinho with Roma until 2024
As reported by Corriere dello Sport in Italy, the Portuguese tactician has confirmed his intention to honour his contract with Roma, which expires in June 2024. After winning the Conference League last season - the club’s first title since 2008 - Mourinho is happy to build on his good work.
