Pedri out for rest of season as Barcelona confirm hamstring injury
Barcelona are set to be without Pedri González for the remainder of the campaign, after it was confirmed the midfielder has suffered a hamstring tear.
Pedri González is set to miss the rest of the season, after it was revealed that the Barcelona midfielder has suffered a hamstring tear.
Pedri limps out of Europa League defeat
The 19-year-old had to be replaced at half time of Barça’s Europa League quarter-final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
“Tests carried out this morning have confirmed that Pedri has a rupture in his left biceps femoris,” Barça said in a statement on Friday. “He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.”
Could be out for up to two months
It is understood that the Spain international faces between six and eight weeks on the sidelines.
The news is a major blow to Barça, who are yet to make sure of a top-four finish in LaLiga. With eight games to go, Xavi Hernández’s men sit second, four points clear of fifth-placed Real Betis, having played one game fewer.
Since returning from a three-month injury absence in January - also caused by a hamstring issue - Pedri has been a key factor in Barça’s improved form in the second half of the season.
He has made 22 appearances in all competitions in 2021/22, scoring five goals and supplying one assist.
