WORLD CUP 2022
Pelé responds to Kylian Mbappé's message on Twitter
Legendary Brazilian forward Pelé has responded to French star and World Cup top scorer Kylian Mbappé's message of goodwill on Twitter.
The poster boy of the Qatar 2022 World Cup so far has undoubtedly been France marksman Kylian Mbappé who, at 23, is breaking records left, right and centre and has his country in the hunt to win back-to-back tournaments.
The PSG hitman is the currently the top scorer in the competition with five goals and will be looking to increase his tally on Saturday when Didier Deschamps’s men take on England in the quarter-finals. However, one of the main stories that has surrounded the World Cup has been Pelé's admission to hospital and the belief that he was in a criticial condition, fears which have been allayed slightly in recent days. Many players have sent messages of goodwill to O Rei, including Mbappé.
“Pray for the King” read the Frenchman’s short tweet which tagged the Brazilian national team legend and was accompanied by emojis of a Brazilian flag, a crown and praying hands.
Late on Thursday, Pelé posted a reply, thanking the France star for his message and congratulating him for his outstanding performances in Qatar, where he has now reached a total of nine World Cup goals before the age of 24, breaking a record previously held by the Santos legend.
“Thank you, Kylian Mbappé. I’m happy to see you breaking another of my records in this Cup, my friend!” was the response given on Pelé's official Twitter account.
