Pelé's affectionate message to Argentina
‘O Rei’ congratulated the the Albiceleste after securing the third star following the dramatic Lusail Stadium World Cup win over France.
Argentina are world champions as reaction to the historic victory against France continues to appear. Brazilian legend Pelé took to his Instagram account and paid tribute to the feat undertaken by Lionel Scaloni’s men. ‘O Rei’ had warm words for Messi as well as encouraging Kylian Mbappé in defeat. The memory of Diego Armando Maradona was also present in his message.

What a gift it was to watch this spectacle to the future of our sport. And I couldn’t fail to congratulate Morocco for the incredible campaign. It’s great to see Africa shine. The official Diego Armando Maradona Instagram account also posted a message of congratulations with a very special post featuring Daniel Passarella, Leo Messi and Diego himself holding the famous trophy. The official Maradona account is now managed by his family after his passing on November 25, 2020.
