Chivas vs Atlas: the players who have represented both Liga MX clubs
Ahead of the Clásico, we take a look at the players who have represented both Mexican soccer clubs.
On Saturday, October 7, the Clásico Tapatío between Chivas and Atlas will take place at the Estadio Akron in Zapopan, Jalisco. Ahead of the intriguing encounter, we have gone back through the archives to have a look at the players who have played for both clubs.
Oswaldo Sánchez
A legend with the Rebaño Sagrado, Oswaldo Sánchez arrived at the club after making his professional debut with Atlas and playing for América. He won the Liga MX title with the club in 2006.
Ignacio ‘Cuate’ Calderón
Cuate Calderón spent almost his entire career with Guadalajara, winning multiple titles including the league, cup and the ‘Campeón de Campeones’ from 1963 to 1970, being part of a strong Chivas side. He then made the jump to Leones Negros and ended his career with Atlas, where he only played for three months.
Omar Bravo
After his spell with Chivas, Omar Bravo went to Spain to play for Galician outfit Deportivo La Coruña. He later returned to Mexico to ply his trade with Tigres before returning to wear the Guadalajara colors. With Chivas, he won the league, cup and Super Cup. He played for Atlas after leaving Cruz Azul.
Fernando Quirarte
One of the best defenders in Chivas’ history is Fernando Quirarte, who played almost his entire career with the Rebaño Sagrado, winning one league title. He later moved to Atlas, where he played for two seasons, and finished his career with Leones Negros of UdeG.
Isaac Brizuela
Isaac Brizuela started his career with Toluca and later had a stint with Atlas. Chivas convinced him to join them and he won a league title, two cup and a Super Cup with the Rebaño.
