The Weeknd forces Chivas to bring forward Apertura 2023 matchday 11 clash
The Sacred Flock were forced to bring forward their Liga MX Apertura home game against Mazatlan give that the Akron Stadium will be hosting a show by The Weeknd in late October.
The wheels are coming off at Chivas with Veljko Paunovic’s team only securing one point from the past 15 and struggling since the league resumed after the Leagues Cup competition.
On Tuesday night, Mazatlán were the visitors of the matchday 11 game of the Apertura 2023 at the Akron Stadium and following a weekend draw at the weekend against Pachuca, the Rebaño Sagrado were confident of getting a positive result.
The quirk relating to Tuesday’s game was that the matchday 10 fixtures have yet to take place with Chivas bringing forward the matchday 11 clash due to The Weeknd set to perform on Wednesday, 25 October at Guadalajara’s Akron Stadium as part of the ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour.
The fixture move failed to benefit Guadalajara as they duly lost to lowly Mazatlan (1-3) as calls for Chivas head coach Veljko Paunovic grow louder among the disgruntled fan base as Chivas languish in seventh place in the Apertura 2023 table.
